Barry Jupp to head up Kier Highways

Infrastructure contractor Kier has appointed Barry Jupp as managing director of its highways sector business.

Barry, who has been with Kier for more than 23 years, will take up his new post on 1 July 2026 to lead the company’s 2,000-strong delivery team providing essential highways construction and maintenance services across the UK.

As managing director, he will focus on supporting customers across local authority and strategic highway network contracts and projects, while continuing to grow a safe, high performing and customer focused business.

Having progressed through a number of leadership roles across the business, most recently as finance director for Transportation, Barry’s appointment highlights Kier’s long-standing commitment to developing talent from within.

During his time at Kier, Barry has played a pivotal role in shaping business performance and strategy, supporting major contract delivery, strengthening commercial discipline and driving improvements in safety & wellbeing, delivery and digital capability. Most recently, he has been finance director for Transportation and has also sat on a number of joint-venture boards, collaborating with industry partners.
