Leading geo-data specialist Fugro is to acquire Galt Geotechnics, a company of consulting geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists and environmental scientists based in Perth and Darwin, Australia.
The acquisition will enable Fugro to establish an Australian hub for GroundIQ®, a scalable solution for site investigations, delivering faster, more comprehensive and cost-effective ground intelligence.
Using advanced sensors, digital workflows, analytics, deep learning algorithms and AI, it produces 3D ground models that improve subsurface understanding, shorten investigation timeframes and strengthen planning, design and construction decisions.
Simon Clode, Fugro director Pacific, said: “Australia needs faster and more comprehensive ground intelligence.
“Combining Galt’s local presence with Fugro’s global Geo-data leadership and digital innovation will accelerate GroundIQ adoption and create operational efficiencies.”
Galt Geotechnics generates around AU$10 million in annual revenue and employs 35 people, who will join Fugro’s existing Land operations.
It is a small acquisition and expected to be accretive to earnings from day one, helping Fugro to accelerate growth in the underserved key Australian markets of infrastructure, critical minerals and energy.

The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions precedent. Integration planning is already underway to ensure continuity for clients and a smooth transition for employees.
