A new temporary culvert bridge, which will allow for faster infrastructure delivery whilst protecting the environment, has been launched by bridge specialist Beaver Bridges in conjunction with the Readypower Group.
On many UK infrastructure projects in rural areas, culverts cause delay while they are installed over streams and ditches to allow the installation of access roads. There is also the danger that, if they are carelessly installed, they can cause damage to the local ecology.
The Beaver Culvert Bridge (BCB) provides a smarter, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional methods. Designed to UK highway standards and capable of supporting SV80 loading (80-tonne heavy good vehicles with a maximum basic axle load of 12.5 tonnes), the BCB provides a robust temporary access solution for tracked excavators, heavy construction plant and other site traffic operating on major infrastructure projects.
The BCB’s innovative screw-pile foundation system can be installed to depths of up to 20 metres without disturbing the channel bed, significantly reducing environmental impact while simplifying the environmental consenting process. The bridge is also fully galvanised, providing a 50-year design life and the resilience to withstand temporary flood submergence.
Delivered as a fully integrated turnkey solution, with all design, manufacture and installation undertaken by Beaver’s specialist in-house team under full design liability, this single-source approach reduces project risk, streamlines delivery and provides clients with complete accountability from concept through to completion.
Available from UK stock for immediate deployment, the BCB enables contractors to establish temporary access quickly, helping to protect programme schedules and maintain momentum on critical infrastructure projects.
