As part of its commitment to inclusion, safety and the wellbeing of all of its employees, Cappagh Browne Utilities has launched a newly expanded Women’s PPE Catalogue. Heralded as a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to equality and diversity, the new catalogue reflects a complete review of the women’s PPE offering. It is a huge improvement on the basic PPE offering that has been in place for some time and has driven by feedback from female colleagues and women across the business, led by SHEQ lead April Batchelor.

“We identified a gap in our PPE provision,” said April. “Women were relying on men’s gear that didn’t fit properly. Now, we’ve created a range that’s not only compliant but comfortable, stylish and fit for purpose.”
The catalogue now includes:
- Multiple styles of women’s trousers, including stretch, waterproof and cargo options;
- A wider selection of boots from trusted brands;
- Warmth and comfort items such as soft-shell jackets, thermals and eco sweat shirts;
- Gloves in smaller sizes to suit all hand shapes.
Importantly, the PPE selection process is collaborative. Items are trialled, reviewed and refined based on real-world feedback.
The rollout has already made a positive impact. New starters have expressed surprise and appreciation at receiving PPE tailored to them.
April added: “It’s something they have to wear but now it’s also something they want to wear.”

The catalogue also reflects sustainability goals, with many items made from EcoViz recycled materials, reducing emissions and environmental impact.
It also aligns with the company’s SHEQ strategy and the motto ‘Safety Starts With You’ – empowering individuals to take ownership of their safety with gear that supports them physically and psychologically.
April added: “Investing in PPE is investing in people. It’s about more than compliance, it’s about comfort, morale and inclusion.”
